Development

• VCU has plans for a new VCUarts building at Broad and Belvidere streets, across from the ICA. The university is asking the state for $181 million to construct the arts and innovation building as part of a six-year plan. (Richmond Times-Dispatch) 

Biz

• Richmond-based company Naborforce is expanding into two more markets — Virginia Beach + Charlotte, NC — for in-person, on-demand support service. Naborforce helps older adults connect with care resources through helpers, called “Nabors.” (Richmond Times-Dispatch) 

Kids

• Registration is now open for Passages Adventure Camp 2022, hosted by Peak Experiences climbing gym. The camp teaches kids ages 5-17 the basics of outdoor recreation like whitewater rafting, rock climbing, wilderness survival + mountain biking. A $100 deposit is required to hold a spot this spring.

Announced

• Wanna party like it’s 1989? The Broadberry is hosting a “I Love the 80’s New Year’s Prom 2021” party on New Year's Eve, starting at 8 p.m. The band Three Sheets to the Wind will be playing the year away with some old school hits. Tickets are now on sale for $35 and will be $45 at the door.

Community

• Do you share your Christmas spirit with all who hear it? Join the volunteer team for the Dominion Energy Christmas Parade. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 4. They’re still in need of some help with logistics + day of parade responsibilities. Contact the volunteer leaders for more details. 🎄
